TEENS REALLY UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF MAKING
POSITIVE ACTIVE CHOICES TODAY
Each
week 2-3 employees or volunteers actively teach middle school students
how to be leaders of integrity. The team uses role-play, games, and
discussions on significant issues facing the students to teach the
qualities necessary to become a leader. A strong emphasis on character
values is incorporated into each lesson.
The basis for the leadership qualities taught in this curriculum is a book by John C. Maxwell, THE 21 INDISPENSABLE QUALITIES OF A LEADER; Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow.
The
curriculum has been developed into 13 lessons. Related lessons may be
combined (as indicated in the Table of Contents) into 9 sessions to
coincide with a 9 week grading period.
Each lesson is divided into 3 sections:
- Setting the Stage,
- The Issue, and
- Living the Lesson.
An interactive ‘game’ is used as an ice-breaker in “Setting the Stage”
and as an application to reinforce the issue in “Living the Lesson”.
The primary games to be played, with instructions, are in BOLD within the lesson.
